Jeff is CEO and Founder of the Rock Companies, which includes the following family of companies: Rock Construction Company, Inc., Rock Equities LLC and Rock Management LLC. Rock Construction is a builder and developer that was founded in 1991 and has principal offices in Detroit, Michigan. With its affiliates, the company has developed, built and managed numerous commercial and residential projects including offices, custom homes, condominiums, apartment communities and arenas. Rock Construction is a licensed Michigan residential builder, a member of the Michigan Association of Home Builders, and licensed Michigan real estate broker.

Rock Equities was formed in 2001 as a vehicle for pursuing real estate investment opportunities. Its holdings have included properties in Florida, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio. Rock Equities has over $1 billion in transactions since its inception.

Steven Rosenthal

President and Principal

Steve brings over 20 years experience in real estate development, construction and management. Within Rock Companies, Steve has leadership responsibility for operations, acquisitions, underwriting and finance, and manages the establishment and implementation of governing policies and procedures companywide. In addition, he maintains functional responsibility for monitoring company budgets, cost management and top line revenue growth.

Steve's professional memberships include the National Apartment Association and National Association of Home Builders, and he is an elected Franklin Village Council Trustee. Steve has a strong commitment to community affairs, serving on the board of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, an active participant in the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and a board member of the Franklin Baseball Organization.

 

 

Katie Shepich

Controller

Katie Shepich brings a wide range of experience in due diligence, finance and accounting. Since joining Rock Companies in 1994 as controller, her responsibilities include overseeing all accounting, finance and tax related matters. She manages liability and employee group insurance benefit placement, 401K administration, reviews employment candidates and is on the compensation committee.

Katie is involved with lender, property, resident and investor relations. She implements due diligence processes for new acquisitions; and reviews acquisition and disposition underwriting.

Having previously worked at UHY Advisors (formerly Follmer, Rudzewicz & Company) for over seven years, Katie managed a group of six staff members. With a majority of real estate client-based business, her duties included audits, reviews, compilations, individual and corporate tax return preparation and review, and trust and estate tax returns.

Katie is a CPA and 1987 BBA graduate from the University of Michigan-Flint with a concentration in Accounting. Industry memberships include the AICPA and MACPA.

 

Vivian Hilmer

Sales & Marketing Director

Vivian has a comprehensive background in real estate with over 16 years experience in sales management, training & development and leasing. Since joining Rock Companies in 2005, Vivian has assumed management responsibility for properties in Florida, North Carolina and Michigan, including all facets of lease consulting, property management, corporate training and development of team members. With a concentrated focus on the sales and marketing activities of each property and the overall marketing direction being implemented for Rock Companies, Vivian plays an instrumental role in the success of the respective communities. As a key member of the Rock Management team, Vivian actively supports the companies' efforts to strengthen its real estate holdings through mergers and acquisitions.

Vivian has earned a practicing real estate Brokers license, applicable to numerous states, which assists in the ongoing pursuit of future ventures and the companies' interest in further developing its real estate portfolio.
